Roundup, Montana is located 45 miles north of Billings. It is the county seat for Musselshell County. The town got its name for ranchers using the Musselshell River as a natural place to "round up" their cattle in the fall of each year. Some historians say its name came from being the ending point of the Texas Trail cattle drives into Montana. Today, Roundup is still the main hub of the county and surrounded by rolling hills, trees, and the Bull mountains. Learn More.
